Employment Generation

Seed production is a scientific and labor intensive process. Hybrid seed production in crops like cotton, sunflower and vegetable crops requires hand emasculation and/or pollination which require skilled labor.

For example, the labour requirement for hybrid cotton seed production in one acre is 500 man hours which is comparably high when compared to normal commercial cotton cultivation. This has increased the need for labor thereby generating employment within the sector.

As a result the seed Industry undertakes Seed Production in 1.2 m acres annually, creating work opportunity for over 5 million people by generating 274 million man hours of employment in rural areas. In addition cotton seed production requires more labour than any other crop seed production process thereby contributing significantly to employment generation in the economy.

Nuziveedu Seeds organizes nearly 95,000 acres seed production annually in the states of Gujarat, AP, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Orissa, MP and UP etc..The employment generated in these seed villages is more than 26 million man hours which translates to 10% of the total employment generated by the seed industry in India *.

Apart from the above, as of April, 2012 we provide direct employment to 1300 people who work in different departments within the company. As we have the highest number of seed processing plants in India, we also directly employ many workers who are involved in different activities such as seed cleaning, processing, storage etc.

We have the largest network of dealers and distributors, hence providing employment opportunity to approximately 2500 distributors and more than 59,000 distributors.

We also contribute for generating much indirect employment like people involved in transportation industry, packaging industry, chemical industry, electronic industry, Printing industry, media etc.

As of this year, our seeds are used by nearly 5.5 million farmers in India and they help them to fetch better prices due to quality output and higher yields.
